How long is a ceremony?

Most ceremonies last between 15-25 minutes with an extra 5-7 minutes for the signing of the license. Your wedding ceremony may be shorter or longer depending on the content you would like to include but generally, allowing 30 minutes from start to finish is a good guide. Its your day and I'm there to ensure it happens exactly how you want it.

The Legal Stuff

  • Before you get married, you need to apply for a licence. A licence confirms it’s legal for you to marry. It costs $150 and you can apply for it online here.

  • It expires 3 months after you receive it. Its best to have it in your hands 14 days before the big day.

  • Only one of you needs to complete the application, but you need information about both of you.

  • You will need 2 witnesses on the day to sign your license and my signature of course, and I will then file it with Births, Deaths and Marriages.

How to Apply for a Wedding License

Making it easy to get hitched!

Before you get married, you need to apply for a license. This confirms it’s legal for you to marry and it what I need on the big day to make it all legal.

It costs $150 and payment is required at the time you submit your application.

What you need to know:

  • You need to arrange your license at least 3 working days before your wedding.

  • Be aware that there can be delays so 14 working days before your wedding day is a good guide to go off.

  • It expires after 3 months.

  • My celebrant fee is separate to the license.

  • Only one of you needs to complete the application, but you need information about both of you.

Where do you apply for your marriage license?

You can apply online for your wedding license here. It’s really easy and simple to follow. It is much faster and efficient to apply for the license to be emailed to you as well and I will print it onto some pretty paper for the big day.

Make sure you find my name, Jodi Wareing, on the form to be your celebrant so I can officiate over your special day. It’s also important to ensure you have no typos throughout the application, including your own details and checking venue details!

If you do accidently make a mistake on the application, please get in touch and we will sort it out as soon as possible.

I look forward to hearing from you!
